Meet Finnish Teacher Vilma

Founder Vilma Kyrönviita, Master of Education

Hi! Moi! I’m Vilma, and I make learning Finnish fun, practical, and totally doable—yes, even if it seems impossible at first. I teach adults fully online, focusing on real-life situations, workplace communication, and hands-on activities that help you feel confident speaking, listening, and understanding Finnish.

Two of my favorite Finnish words are sisu, which means determination and resilience, and jaksaa, which is all about keeping going even when things get challenging. I try to bring the same energy and mindset to my lessons so that students not only learn Finnish but also feel confident using it in everyday life and at work.

I have special experience teaching Finnish for the healthcare and cleaning sectors, so I know all the tricky professional vocabulary and real-life situations you might face at work. I have worked with learners from many different backgrounds, from complete beginners to B2 level, and I also help students prepare for vocational studies in Finland.

My teaching style is interactive, practical, and always tailored to your needs. I want my students to leave each lesson feeling like they have learned something useful and maybe even having had a little fun along the way.

• Teaching nursing students beginner-level Finnish and professional language, Spring 2025
